In short

We collect as little as we can. We do not sell or rent information about anyone, and we do not share it with other organisations for their own fundraising or marketing.

This policy covers lavsfoundation.org and the information LAVS Foundation receives when you give, write to us, or attend a programme. LAVS Foundation is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation, EIN 85-0813360.

What we
collect

When you visit the website

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages are read, how visitors arrive, the type of device and browser, and an approximate location at the level of city or region. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to tell one visit from the next. It does not tell us who you are, and we do not combine it with anything that would.

When you give

Online gifts are processed by PayPal. You enter your payment details on PayPal’s pages, not ours, and we never see or store card or bank numbers. PayPal sends us your name, email address, the amount and date of your gift, and any note you add, so that we can thank you and give you a record for your taxes. PayPal’s own privacy statement governs what it does with your information.

When you write to us

If you email us, we keep your message and address in order to reply, and for as long as the correspondence is useful to the Foundation’s work.

At concerts and events

We may photograph or record our programmes and use those images to describe the Foundation’s work. If you would rather not appear, tell a member of staff on the day or write to us afterwards, and we will not use images in which you can be identified.

How we
use it

To thank donors and provide gift acknowledgements; to keep the records that the law requires of a charity; to tell supporters about concerts and the Foundation’s work, if they have asked to hear from us; and to improve this website. You may ask us at any time to stop writing to you, and we will.

We share information only with the service providers who help us do these things — PayPal for gifts, Google for email and website analytics, Cloudflare to host this site — and when the law requires it. Donor names may be listed in our printed programmes or annual report only with the donor’s permission.

Your
choices

Analytics cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site works the same either way.

Do Not Track

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no common standard for responding to it, and this website does not currently change its behaviour when it receives one.

Seeing or correcting your information

Write to us and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete what we are not required by law to keep.

Children

This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them online. Information about young musicians who take part in our programmes is gathered from their parents or guardians, with their consent, and used only to run those programmes.

Security and
changes

We keep donor and programme records in password-protected accounts limited to the people who need them. If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date.
